Homesceeen app/widget placement

There's a row at the top that I can't use to place a widget. The spacing between the bottom row of apps and the row above are also to far apart. I have attached a photo of what we should be able to do but can't.

This is the look I believe works best. 

Below is what it currently looks like in One UI 7 allot of the screen is being water in my opinion

The amount of padding for the top and bottom rows on the home screen is absolutely horrendous, completely agree. Have been really struggling to use OneUI Home for this exact reason.
