I'm guessing this has been suggested, but it would be an improvement if the Google Assistant actually worked on the cover screen. Having to open the phone to use it really defeats the purpose of a hands-free experience.
Unfortunately, I think this is a Google issue to resolve. The problem is both Assistant and Gemini lack the Appear On Top permission entirely. With that, they could work on the cover screen. Perhaps Samsung could add a flag but that might be tampering with another company's app, or Samsung could change how the cover screen restrictions are done for Assistant/Gemini specifically. I'm looking for a way we could modify A/G ourselves and will update this post if I find anything.
And yes, I would love these working on the cover screen.
Update: I tried ADB commands to manually grant the permissions and no luck. Looks like Google needs to fix this, or Samsung needs to make an exception for coverscreen use by Assistant/Gemini
