Bluetooth connected icon should be visible on Status Bar when on home screen

In One UI 6.1 when a Bluetooth device was connected the Bluetooth connected icon used to be visible on the Status Bar in the home screen.

But now in One UI 7 Bluetooth connected icon is not visible on homescreen but only visible when the quick settings panel is pulled down.

This casues unnecessary confusion as to whether a Bluetooth device is connected or not since its icon is not visible on homescreen.

Please rectify this issue and make the Bluetooth connected icon visible on the homescreen status bar without having the need to pull down the quick settings panel.

Screenshot attached.

Thanks.

Hello,

Thank you all for sharing your perspectives on the Bluetooth status icon. It's great to see different viewpoints being discussed, as it highlights how diverse user preferences can be.

For those who prefer the Bluetooth icon on the status bar at all times, it’s understandable that having a visual confirmation on the home screen provides convenience and eliminates the need to open the Quick Settings panel to check the connection status.

On the other hand, the suggestion to minimize icons on the status bar for a cleaner look and improved readability also makes sense. Reducing clutter can enhance usability for those who prioritize simplicity and accessibility.

Both approaches have their merits, and we’ll share this feedback with the development team to consider how to strike the right balance. Perhaps there could be an option to toggle the visibility of the Bluetooth icon, giving users the flexibility to choose what works best for them.

Thank you for contributing to this discussion—your input helps make One UI better for everyone!

Regards,

One UI Beta Team

It is now always visible when bluetooth devices are connected

Wish it was not visible all the time, preferably like before only showed when pulling down panel

Thank you if you revert it back

Here is a good idea: give user the option to choose BOTH. Don't decide for your users what is right or wrong. In One UI 6, the indicators were ON, and you could disable them via Good Lock. So, everyone was happy. Now you've decided for everyone what is right and wrong, moving away from the ethos of Android, that is allowing users to customize their phones as they please.

I agree with your idea. They should give us an option to enable/disable status bar icons as we please. But this option should be given in One UI settings itself instead of through Good Lock as many people don't use or are not aware of Good Lock.

The omition of the bluetooth icon is very upsetting to me. All my previous phones have had it. It's actually my most used icon of all time. It tells me when my devices are connected. The removal of this icon is going to make me return my phone and go back to my old one. Please add this icon back ASAP within 1 week.

Please give us a toggle in the BT settings to add that icon to the locked status bar!

Don't think that we need this. Status bar is more aesthehic without BT icon

Some of us use our phones for function, not aesthetics. I noticed this change when I answered my phone and assumed that my BT headphones which were connected to my laptop, were also connected to my phone. I only realized once I had picked up the phone that they weren't connected.

This doesn't happen when the indicator is there, showing you the status of your phone on the status bar. Being able to glance at your phone and see whether or/not BT is on or connected to a device is very useful, given how most people use BT devices daily.

But we are losing functionality in the quest to please people who buy smartphones for looks and aesthetics.

Please add this back as an option you can select. I use that icon constantly to determine if I forgot to disconnect my headsets and speakers around my house. Having to pull down constantly to see if I forgot to disconnected is extremely annoying. Just make it optional for people like me that use my phone for work and could care less if there is one more icon. The rest of the people can just keep it disabled if it's optional.
