I like the animations for UI indicators such as battery charging and volume control. The color segmentation is nice on the battery charging level. I think that could also be done for the volume level control.
It would be interesting to see if some color splash during animation (highlight, fade, ease/pulse border) can also be used to draw the eye in a pleasant, satisfying, cool way.
Even the open apps carousel could use a fading border as the next app enters the active center. More use of subtle but colorful in-animation indicators can give the experience a more lively (alive) feeling. It also allows for higher perceived performance, especially if the transitions include scaling and acceleration. Little presentation tweaks can go a long way in UI level interaction satisfaction. The UI is what separates products from an end user point of view.
