Google is rolling out a system to "keep us safe" when sideloading which requires anyone who makes an apk to verify if it's safe through personal info. This only effects official android devices with stock android such as samsung or google pixel.

I have to ask what's the point of it, we already have security features that makes it clear what you're getting yourself into if you turn them off. There is no need for this new "feature" and it goes against what android stands for. In my opinion I feel that this should just be completely scrapped as the idea of having to give out info just to allow installing an apk is ABSURD.

Now this is just my opinion and I love to hear yours. If you hate it to, voice your concerns on social media and make it clear to google, we hate this.

I have a WFS self-designed analog face for my Watch 7. I doubt I'll buy the signing key/cert required for a signed apk if I can't side load it. I guess, I'll be switching back to the analog watch the face is based on and my Watch7 is my last smartwatch.

This is a duplicate post, word for word from a supposed other user. Do you have two accounts or did you just copy and paste?

Neither. Could you link the post for me so i can see it for myself, lol
I'm pretty new to samsung's members community

Edit: I found the post you were talking about, and I can safely say they copy and pasted it. And then they renamed the post

I did see the time stamp on both posts after my comment. I saw that yours came first. It has not been unheard of for someone to create an alternate account to get around some things. After I noted the time stamp I reported the other post. I thought the moderators removed it.

I believe that the personal information required is for the apk *developer*, not the end user.  They are making the producer verify the safety of the apk, not requiring the user to give up personal info in order to acknowledge the risks.
