QLED and The Frame TVs

In the last few weeks, Samsung updated the OS to the Frame TV and a function that I regularly used is no longer available. I'm writing in hope that someone can suggest a workaround (or if Samsung engineers read this, to bring the function back).

I have an Apple TV 4K media streamer for my Frame 55" 2022 TV. I'm assuming that other media streamers such as Chromecast, Roku, etc. would have a similar behavior that I am getting now post-OS update.

Prior to the update, I would be watching TV using the Apple TV 4K steamer, conclude for the evening, power off the streamer with the Siri remote, and the Frame would instantly go into the Art Mode and display artwork for 30 minutes (my settings) before the Frame would go to sleep. Post upgrade, I power off the streamer (Apple tells me the streamer goes to sleep, not powering off), but instead of the Frame displaying artwork, it is searching for a media source:

My only recourse now is to use the Samsung remote and manually navigate to the Art Mode and select the artwork, a multi-step process.

Is anyone else who is using a streamer experiencing this, and do you have a workaround?

Thanks,
David

good idea, but does not work if you have a soundbar connected, want to turn it on and off with the TV and use it as a default sound output.

I got a survey today from SamsungFeedback inviting me to participate in a short survey regarding my Frame TV experience. It was a lot about how I felt about the Art Store and using the art. In any open ended response area I let them know this feature was no longer working for me and many others and there has been no fix, making this feature useless. The last question they want you to upload a picture of your tv so they can see what where you have your tv and what art you are displaying. Mine shows a lovely black screen. Let's inundate them with black screens!

There’s a form you can fill out to contact their CEO - it’s linked here

https://www.samsung.com/us/support/contact/email-the-ceo/

I haven’t filled it out because I haven’t personally contacted support, but I think those of you who have contacted support should use this form to let the CEO know how bad the experience has gotten

Broken for me too. Emailed the CEO… please revert the change. This is not an acceptable experience.

Hey team. Just bought our frame TV a month ago, and we actually love it. I came to this thread because I have this issue with my Nintendo switch, but not with the  tv. Actually, the  tv is the most consistent when I put to sleep, it goes to art mode automatically pretty easily. I realized that if the Frame TV doesn’t “recognize” the  tv as “Apple TV” with a picture of the device on screen, I think this may be this the issue. I was having problems with getting the HDR10+ settings to look good, so I ordered a new ultra high speed HDMI cable: Snowkids 10K 8K HDMI Cable 2.1... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B099ZRBW2N?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

this has fixed many of my problems, including the frame recognizing the  tv. Maybe give this a try and let us know?

I just ordered this cable and it should be here tonight. I’m hoping you’re right! Mine used to be recognized as an Apple TV but is no longer. I will keep you posted. 🤞

Cable hasn’t come, but I did get it to recognize my Apple TV again by unplugging both sides of the HDMI and unplugging the TV and adding the Apple TV back. It does that annoying thing others have noticed where it works once and never again. Not optimistic the new cable will help, but will still report back. This is so annoying. It used to work perfectly until a month ago. And no Samsung, this definitely isn’t an Apple problem. Look at the the quality of your software vs theirs 😂

Adding my name here too, exact same issue here in Australia that started last week, I’ve tried everything also including some of the steps provided in this thread, but it’s still not working.

Problem seems to be since my Frame ‘auto’ updated to 1520. Spoke with Samsung support locally and their response was to call Apple as they might have a fix for the issue.

Worked perfectly for over a year and now defeats the purpose of having the Frame TV for art mode completely…

Let’s hope Samsung can rectify the issue.

Call Apple? Seriously Samsung? How about the stupid thing exiting Art Mode and switching to Samsung Stupid TV on its own. Call Apple for that then? LOL
