Subject: Product Suggestion – A Samsung “DeXtop TV” That Replaces Laggy Smart TVs

Hello Samsung Team,

I’m writing as a passionate Samsung user who believes you’re sitting on something that could revolutionize smart TVs: Samsung DeX. What if your next TV wasn't powered by Tizen, but by a full-featured DeX interface — no phone required?

 Product Concept: Samsung DeXtop TV

A smart TV powered by Samsung DeX natively — with RAM, storage, and performance similar to a Chromebook or desktop environment. It would boot into a smooth, responsive DeX experience where apps and content are accessible instantly — without lag, freezing, or ad-heavy interfaces.

 Specs I Imagine:

  • Built-in DeX OS (no phone tethering required)

  • 8GB or 16GB RAM, desktop-level Exynos/Snapdragon chip

  • 128–256GB storage

  • Bluetooth 5.3 + Wi-Fi 6

  • Custom touchpad remote with slide-up keyboard

  • Optional access to Samsung TV+ and live channels via app (not OS)

 What It Solves:

  • No more laggy home bars, frozen UI, or sluggish app switching

  • True keyboard/mouse functionality for searches, productivity, or browsing

  • One unified experience — like ChromeOS but for a TV

 Comparable Products:

  • Combines the Apple TV + Mac Mini workflow into one product

  • Offers what LG WebOS and Roku TVs can’t: actual computing power

  • Can even double as a home desktop replacement for students and remote workers

And the great part about using your phone is that you have all your data and apps available.

i sent something like this to Samsung support a while back and they ghosted me. i was thinking along the lines of adding Windows app support to DeX via WINE and turning it into a more premium desktop experience since the newer hardware should be able to handle most desktop apps as long as you have something like box86 or wow64 to make it work with the ARM CPUs. btw you can just hook up DeX to a TV with an adapter and do that. for the touchpad remote having a slide-up keyboard that sounds a bit weird to use but i could probably get used to it. also was this post made by ChatGPT??? sounds way too AI.. either that or I use AI too much

for proof of the Windows app support working you can just go look at Termux Mobox. i suggested it to them because most users probably don't want to scream at a terminal to get their Windows apps working and they might be able to get rid of a lot of overhead. Never compare a Chromebook to a Samsung device again

but from Samsung's perspective I can see why this would be a risky move. they would essentially be admitting that their current lineup of laptops arent good enough. i mean why make your consumers buy 1 product when you can make them buy 2! 😂. ive spent a totally healthy amount of time thinking about this (a lie)
