Monday (Last edited Monday by SamsungCaleb ) in
Monitors and MemoryI have a new monitor and have set the OSD settings several times. Several times: As the monitor does not save the changes and reverts to default after an overnight power down, or after I change inputs (HDMI to PowerPort), or after I change the USB-C port that I use to plug the monitor into the PC.
I tried changing the settings, then exiting the OSD menu, then powering off the monitor using the OSD buttons. But on power-on, the settings have reverted to factory. (This was a Reddit recommendation that apparently worked for them.)
What is the secret handshake to get the settings to save?
Also, I found out that you have to hold down the power button for an extended time to get the OSD to work at all.
This information really needs to be part of the manual (a link to the manual in the quick setup instructions would Really have been appreciated.)
UPDATE:
I held either the center button or the power button for a couple of seconds: And the settings were saved.
However, my Windows 11 computer COMPLETELY forgot who this monitor was. I had to start with Display Setting: "Extend these displays"
Also, I had set up "Fancy Zones" in "Power Toys" (Look into Power Toys if you do not know about it), and I had to select my monitor settings again.
It is not extremely difficult to recover from it, but just realize that holding down the power button for too long creates a completely new monitor ID for Windows, and you will have to customize any software optimizations from scratch.
I assume that since you are here though, that that bit of advice is too late :-).
