LED and OLED TVsHi, My TV suddenly gives no picture when turned on, screen is completely black and there's no sound through the TV speakers, but there is sound from the soundbar.
The TV is just over 2 years old, with no extended warranty.
Unplugging all the cables does nothing. Pressing the power button on the remote for 5 seconds does perform a reset (I hear the sound from the soundbar), but doesn't fix anything. The TV has no hard wired buttons. Shining a light onto the screen shows nothing.
Edit: After using a stronger torch, I was able to make out an image. So this seems light a failed back light issue.
With the sound through the soundbar, I can hear the noise the TV makes as I blindly select things on the main screen. If I select a station, I hear the sound (again through the soundbar only).
Does anybody know if this fault is likely to be the power/main board, or a backlight issue?
Thanks 🙂

LED and OLED TVsThis an update to my problem which is now fixed.
I found replacement LED strips on AliExpress, they were under £9.
I found a youtube video on how to open the TV up. While not the exact same model, it was close enough.
I tested the 3 LED strips and found that one was bad. I replaced all three anyway. Why they all went out when only one failed I don't know, maybe wired in series?
I powered up the TV before putting it back together to make sure everything worked. Success, but...
I panicked a bit because I also had two white spots on the screen, but this turned out to be because the back cover wasn't on. They went way after full assembly, so I assume if was just the room light bleeding through from the back.
So for £9, an hours work, a few broken plastic clips, I saved myself over £200.
For anyone else DIY'ing this type of repair, I recommend also buying two suction cups for removing the screen and some plastic tools for undoing the clips. Be warned that the screen ribbons are along the bottom, so don't go poking anything in there, just sides and top. Damaging a ribbon... well just replace the TV. 🙂
Good luck. 🙂

LED and OLED TVsThanks for the reply Gary.
The screen is completely black, shining a light on to the screen shows nothing.
Just having someone come and collect the TV will cost £150, then the cost of any repairs on top of that. I'd rather just spend £300 on a new TV. But if the board has gone bad then a 2nd hand one on ebay is about £40. 🙂
Edit: I used a stronger torch, and after navigating with the sound to a station, I was able to see an image. So this seems to be a back light issue.
