hi everyone - i have a Samsung Smart TV, circa 2017 - it's started showing a connection to a 'new' wifi network - this network also appears as a network option on the house phones and tablets - the network calls itself Back door tv.v and a quick google suggests it's some sort of hack, using the tv to spy?

anyone know much about this?

should we be worried? is there a way to remove it? (i've disconnected the tv from the wifi, for now).

tia for any advice, Patrick

As long as you're not connected to that network You have nothing to worry about SSID is the name of a wireless broadcast you should see many in your home as your neighbors devices usually show up any SSID should have a password to connect to it if it does not do not connect to it your wireless network should have Security in place via your password security type Etc also wireless devices output and SSID that might be somebody's backyard TV that is popping up feel free to use your wireless network just make sure you're connected to yours with your password and also keep in mind if you feel unsafe you can simply change your password and your SSID by logging into your router this is something I recommend doing every few months changing the password will help keep your information safe lastly if you are someone that is susceptible to someone hacking your network I would highly recommend looking into getting a VPN service
