Hopefully this doesn't get deleted, the other forums had no solutions.

Samsung Au8000 every so often will stop letting me adjust volume up and down. I have to unplug the TV and then it works again. This is the second TV this is happening to, the first was a 55in, this is a 65in.

Obviously the problem lies within the tv and a real solution other than a factory reset that obviously doesn't work would be so so helpful. No soundboard, stock Samsung remote.

Hello, jessixmarie. Welcome to the Samsung Community. Have you tried a factory reset of the remote to see if the problem lies there? Here are some steps to help with that.

Remote Reset Method 1: Button Combo

  1. Make sure your TV is turned on and the remote is nearby.
  2. On your remote, find the Return button (usually a curved arrow) and the Multi-View button (often a square icon).
  3. Press and hold both buttons at the same time.
  4. Watch the top of the remote โ€” if you see a red light start flashing, go ahead and release the buttons. That means the remote has been reset.

If that doesnโ€™t do the trick, hereโ€™s another method:

Remote Reset Method 2: Battery Discharge

  1. Take the batteries out of the remote.
  2. Press and hold the Power button for about 8 seconds to drain any leftover power.
  3. Put the batteries back in and try using the remote again.

Quick IR Signal Test

To check if the remote is sending a signal:

  • Point it at your phoneโ€™s camera (or any digital camera).
  • Press the Power button.
  • If you see a colored light on the camera screen, the remote is working โ€” which means the issue might be with the TVโ€™s sensor.

Please let us know if this helps!

Dear Samsung Support,
I am experiencing the same problem with a UN50AU8000F. This has been going on for quite some time now after a software update. Keeping up to date on software updates, so far, hasn't fix it. It is definitely the TV and not the remote (I have three different remotes including the Samsung remote that was included with the TV). When this issue happens, none of the remotes volume controls work on the TV. If I connect to "Bluetooth Speakers", it works. If I change audio output back to "TV Speakers", volume control stops working again. The only way I've found to fix this issue is by unplugging the AC power cord from the back of the TV for a minute and plugging it back in. But that only works for so long and then volume control stops working again when the TV is turned off and back on again. Factory resetting the TV has the same results as unplugging/plugging back in but takes way more time to do and is therefore not a solution. I've tried everything in the TV's menus to fix this. Samsung needs to quit dragging their feet on this and fix it in the software as that's how it was broken in the first place. This is why you should not beta test software on the consumer. So, unless you know of a permanent fix in the TV's menu settings, please get somebody to fix the software.

We have had this same issue!!! Iโ€™ve contacted support so many times, am on my 4th new remote and nothing fixes it. Support just says my tv is over a year old so no longer under warranty. Incredibly disappointing customer service and that Samsung continues to not fix this when clearly itโ€™s an issue with the tv.

We have this issue as well! Every couple weeks we just have to unplug the TV and restart it. We have two Samsung TVs and only have the issue with one of them. Very frustrating and clearly not a one-off problem.
