Older Samsung LED will turn on but has black screen

My 8 year old 50" LED went to black a few days ago.  I decided to replace it, however it occured to me the fix may be a simple one.  After investigating, I am under the belief that the LED Backlights just need to be replaced.  While the fix is simple enough, it is one that I don't wish to do myself (will require a few specialized tools I don't own).  I'm trying to figure out if:

1. what I should expect the cost to be (roughly)
2. Is it even worth it?

Anyone with experience with this and has an opinion would be greatly appreciated.

For 8 year old TV i doubt you can find a place that will replace LED back lights,if this is the issue. You could easily have bad LED panel.

How do we replace the Led panel? This is the 2nd TV to do this and it is not very old
