As a starter I will show what I have. The Television is a QN65QN85BDFXZA and the predominate use is with a satellite receiver that connects on HDMI port 4. The smart TV is attached to my internet via wireless modem and has been receiving updates since being installed 2+ years ago. I use an Onkyo remote to power on/off the TV and my Onkyo sound system. Prior to the latest Samsung update, on power up the TV came up on a selection screen for a short time and then went directly to HDMI-4, which is how I had programmed the system. Since the most recent software update by Samsung, On power up the TV defaults to the Samsung app and I have to use the Samsung remote to go through a few steps to switch to HDMI-4 and the satellite input I want displayed. Once I have HDMI-4 selected and operating all remains as I want it until power down. I have spent several hours trying to get back to the power up condition I had previously but to no avail. My wife is the predominate user of this TV and the system in total and is not technically inclined and making the system more complex to operate is not acceptable. Using the Onkyo remote programmable keys I was able to make the two button on/off into a simple one button operation. What was a simple one button turn on/off has become a multi button, on two different remotes, operation. How do I get back to what I had?

Hi @Bo40, welcome to the Samsung Community — and thanks for your post and question!

Have you tried adjusting the Auto-Run Last App setting? You can do this by navigating to:

Menu > Settings > All Settings > General & Privacy > Start Screen Option > Autorun Last App

Alternatively, you might want to try turning off the Auto-Run Smart Hub option:

Menu > Settings > All Settings > General & Privacy > Start Screen Option > Start with Smart Hub Home

Let us know if that helps!

Thank you for your response.  I found the solution before your response and it was your second suggestion but not as simple as you made it sound.  My issue really came down to finding all the steps to get to the solution and then the proper sequence of deletions and activations to get the selection I wanted, but once I figured it out all went well.  Things would have been much better if the update would have kept and resumed with the set-up it found before the update.

Which screen do you start with to resolve the issue? The Samsung startup screen or when I am in my cable tv screen?
