I have an active 7 watch. For the past week I have been receiving notices to update my watch software. The update fails every time. I start the download, then get the message "Couldn't copy update, try again later".

You have to be on wifi with more than 30% battery to download and install if that helps

I have my phone and watch on wifi, plugged into their chargers and some of the times I have tried to do the update they have both been at 100%. I have even rebooted both of them and then tried again. This is so frustrating. Thank you for your tip.

Maybe do a reset and restore from backup. It should load the most recent version

If you are using a VPN turn it off during the update to see if it works.

Yep! I had the exact same issue. Turned it off and boom it worked. Please update to see if it worked for you also.

Thank you theblackcobra for your recommendation. I turned off my VPN and it updated perfectly. Samsung should make that the first thing in the list of notes when they send out an update notice. Again, thank you so much for sharing your solution.

Excellent and you are very welcome. Yes. Indeed Samsung should mention this in the updstes. Please mark your post as an accepted solution. Much appreciated!

I know from experience that many updates to apps do not work with a VPN., so I wouldn't expect a major operating system update to get through. Generally I only use a VPN when traveling so that I can get to U.S. websites, as some of my apps are region locked and can't be accessed out of the country.  It would be good for there to be an update checklist in prep for an update.  At the very least they could put a "toast" up to turn off your VPN, the same way they tell you to turn on wi-fi for a faster download.
