I've spent the past 30 minutes looking for a way to calibrate the barometer that all Galaxy watches have, but no one seems to have an answer. Has anyone here figured out how to do it? And no, the compass calibration procedure does not calibrate the barometer.

that could be Google's fault and if you changed your location in your dwelling.  In my back room, I'm home, in my living room I'm next door. The coordinates are correct, however.

The other day I was unable to see my elevation on my watch during my hike. I use the health app on my watch and select the "hike" feature when i start a hike.

While i am on a hike, usually one of the watch faces will show the distance, elevation and hiking time. Perfect for what i need.

Im assuming i inadvertently messed up this feature somehow while also trying to get the All Trails app going on my phone at the onset of the hike. I was in an area that did not have cell reception so i could not get All Trails to work. Not a problem though as I use my watch as the primary tracker.

Unfortunately, the watch only started recording distance after a mile had been completed. So i was at 1.19 miles and the watch read 0.19 miles. The elapsed time was correct and the elevation was not showing.

This is the first time ive had this issue. However, its also the first time i was messing with the All Trails app on my phone at the same time and im guessing it did something incorrectly. Operator error.

I do want to make sure that the distance and elevation are indeed working properly. And in researching this, online information comes back that the Alti-Barometer should be calibrated.

This is where i am getting stuck. It does not appear that my Galaxy Watch 4 Classic has a Alti-Barometer app installed by default. Going to the Galaxy Store on the watch shows several different Alti-Barometer choices. However, none of them are Samsung so im guessing they do not work in tandem with the Health App. So im not sure how to go about recalibrating this feature on the watch?

The alti-barometer app is not available for WearOS watches.  It appears that Samsung decided if you wanted a more detailed app, you would have to use a third party. The altimeter/barometer is integrated into the compass app on the watch. Apparently, you can calibrate the compass, but it is unclear whether the calibration setting also re-calibrates the altimeter/barometer--I would assume it does.  If you are missing the hike data screen, you can go into the watch settings, open the Samsung Health app, and scroll down to workouts, where you will get the workouts screen.  Scroll over to the hiking workout orb and click on the settings.  Scroll down to the workout screen, tap that, choose Data Screen 1, and make sure it's on.  Then tap it and select the workout screen layout and the data you want to show on the screen.  You can either turn off Data Screen 2 or do the same to add the layout of that screen.

Same here, I just got the galaxy watch 6 classic and on the compass there is no altimeter at all, I've tried to look for apps on the store but the ratings are poor most under 3.5 star, why would Samsung make one of the most important features so difficult I mean altimeter is absolutely important if you're climbing hills and just want to know how high the elevation is. Samsung please common it's not a cheap watch why can't you make this correction on the app

I don't know, when I look in the Google Play store, there are many apps 4 stars and above with thousands of reviews, although it looks like most of them are for the phone.  I think that Samsung fobbed the responsibility for an app off on Google.  I think when they included the altimeter and barometer readings into the compass, they thought that would be enough. Unfortunately, a) not many people even know there's a compass app and b) even less know that the altimeter and barometric readings are in it.  And, although it has no bearing on me, I am quite sure it does not meet the needs of hikers and climbers.

The altimeter is also important for people with lung issues like COPD, tendency to pulmonary emboli, or heart problems.  Going too high (even a high floor in a hotel in a location with high altitude to begin with) could be deadly.

Read the manual, and follow the instructions. For compass, Location feture must be ENABLE....barometric pressure takes time as is been detected by the watch.

Read the manual?? How about you read my post again because it seems like you completely missed the plot. Nowhere in my post did I ask how to use the compass or the barometer. I asked if anyone knew how to calibrate the barometer.

It has a self calibrated sensor. It will calibrate itself based on LOCATION, and barometric reading from the Watch, using internal algorithms and the information from weather stations in the area, from the National Weather Service when connected either LTE or WiFi.
