Watch 5 issue with screen not coming up

I just got my Watch5 yesterday and I cannot get the screen to come up automatically when I raise my wrist. I have it set that way but it's not working. I also tried setting the always-on feature but it doesn't seem to work either. Any suggestions?

Make sure the band is snug and give it a try. If not you may need to restart or reset before contacting support for a warranty claim.

Did you try restarting the watch to see if the change takes place since they don't have save on a lot of The Choice buttons?
