Galaxy WatchI just purchased a Samsung Smartwatch 8 and was trying to setup Samsung Wallet. I was following the prompts to set up fingerprint verification but when I apply my finger the fingerprint on the screen goes away and nothing happens. It won't advance to the next screen. It just sits there doing nothing. I tried backing out and trying again with using a PIN instead but that doesn't do anything, either. I hit the "use PIN instead" link and it lights up when I try to activate it but again...it does nothing so I can't advance to the next screen/step.
I have tried restarting my phone but that didn't help. I have sent and resent the security email multiple times. Nothing works.
Anyone have any suggestions or workarounds for this?

Galaxy WatchThen your best bet is to uninstall Samsung wallet, reboot and then reinstall it. The installation could have been corrupted.

Galaxy WatchYou can't use a fingerprint on the watch, there is no fingerprint reader (unless they added to the Watch 8). You need to create a PIN for the watch. The fingerprint verification is for the Wallet on the phone. You have to set up the wallet on the phone first and add your cards to the wallet, then set up the Wallet on the watch and "import" your cards that are already in the wallet to the watch. When you use the watch to pay, you would just long press on the back button to activate Samsung Wallet. You may be asked for the PIN, but generally speaking, the PIN is set to unlock the watch, and once the watch is on your wrist and has been unlocked, will remain unlocked so you don't have to keep using the PIN to use Samsung Wallet. The watch version of the Wallet is my main payment method - the phone version is my backup.
If the issue is with setting up Samsung Wallet on your phone, I suggest uninstalling Samsung Wallet and reinstalling it. If your fingerprint reader works otherwise to unlock your phone or secure apps, then the problem lies with the app. You won't be able to set up Samsung Wallet on the watch until it works on the phone.
If you uninstall and reinstall Samsung Wallet and still can't get it to work, first, put in an error report, then set up and switch to Google Wallet. You can use Google Wallet on your watch (it should already be installed) by making it your default wallet app (it will ask you to do this the first time you open it). You can access the Google wallet app on the watch by either mapping the home button to activate with a double tap, adding the wallet as a complication on a customizable watch face, or sliding up to the apps screen and selecting it. The fastest and easiest way to do it would be to use the double tap of the home button. Unfortunately, the back button is permanently dedicated to Samsung Wallet and cannot be remapped. If you ever do get Samsung Wallet set up and working, you can just switch to it and make it your default. You can keep both wallets and use them interchangeably, should it be necessary. You would just have to switch the default on the watch whenever you do so. On the phone, you would just open whichever app you want to use, you don't have to choose a default unless you designate a transit card.
