Galaxy Watch 8 won't pair with Huawei P30 PRO

Hi everyone, I really need some help with Galaxy Watch 8

I'm trying to set up a Galaxy Watch 8 with my Huawei P30 Pro (running EMUI 12.0.0).
In theory, the watch should be compatible because there is Android 12 on my phone (it's P30 PRO, not a regular P30) — but I can only get a basic Bluetooth connection. The most it does is show incoming calls.

The Galaxy Wearable app doesn’t detect the watch at all — it just keeps showing “No devices found.”
I’ve already tried using Samsung Health and installing plugins through Galaxy Watch Plugin app, but nothing changes. The watch stays stuck on “Check your phone to complete setup.”

I’ve rebooted the phone, wiped cache, and reinstalled apps… nothing has worked so far.

If anyone knows a solution or a workaround, I’d really appreciate the help. I'm close to returning the watch, but hoping there’s a fix before I do.

Not familiar with Huawei devices, but compatibility issues with EMUI would be my guess as to the cause of your issue.

If you are unable to find a workaround, you may consider upgrading to a more compatible device from an OEM that isn't currently facing US embargo and is able to receive better support.

Huawei phones are not compatible with Galaxy Watches. Not all Google services work, Wear OS is from Google.
