Galaxy WatchI just received my new Watch 8 Classic and tried to open Samsung Pay. When prompted to open Pay on my phone it says "Can't open Samsung Pay - Your watch may not be supported." I can only send an error report or close the app.
I have redownloaded Samsung Pay from the Play store and reset and re-paired my watch to my phone. What am I missing?
I am using a Pixel 8 with the latest software
Watch 8 Classic with latest software
Galaxy Wearable App is up to date
Watch 8 plug-in is up to date
Samsung Pay is up to date

Galaxy WatchSamsung Pay is a proprietary app and, as such, can only be opened on a Samsung device. Since you have to set up the cards for the watch on the phone, you may not be able to do it on a Pixel (apologies if I am wrong about this, as both my watch and phone are Samsung). You may be better off switching to Google Wallet. You can program the home button to open Google Wallet with a double press.

Galaxy WatchThis is not true. My Watch 6 Classic used the Samsung Pay plug-in to connect to my Pixel 8, enabling NFC payments on the watch without a problem.

Galaxy WatchYou likely set up Samsung Pay on the Watch 6 prior to them revamping Samsung Wallet and the way the cards are now added to the watch. The watch plug in is no longer separate from the Wallet, and Samsung apps only run on Samsung phones.

Galaxy WatchJust found this out the hard way, myself. I was so excited to pick up the new watch today, too! Just got it all set up and tried to add my cards only to find out it's not compatible with my Pixel 8 Pro phone. Immediately factory reset it and returned it. AIn't nobody got time to screw around with this kind of feature gatekeeping.

Galaxy WatchYou could have just switched to Google Wallet, which works across ALL Android devices. As stated before, you can even set the home button to activate it by double tapping, or choose a watch face where you can add Google Wallet as a complication.

Galaxy WatchI believe the Watch has Samsung Wallet which is basically the same as Samsung Pay.
I can confirm this as I checked from my Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Classic and the app is there.
If it does the same thing, then I don't see what the problem is unless there is no shortcut that quickly lets you do the transaction like in Samsung Pay.

Galaxy WatchThe watch does now have Samsung Wallet (no longer a separate Samsung Pay app), but in order to add cards to Samsung Wallet, it must be done on the phone, and that cannot be done on the phone unless said phone is a Samsung phone, as Wallet only works on Samsung Phones. Prior to the integration with Samsung Wallet, one could add cards through the watch plugin on non-Samsung phones. That option is no longer available. So, using Samsung Pay on a Samsung Watch without a Samsung Phone is a no-go - which is very short-sighted of Samsung, IMO. However, Google wallet works just fine across all Android platforms, between any brand Android watch and any brand Android phone. To me, one wallet is just as good as another, so if Samsung Pay couldn't be used for whatever reason, I have no problem switching to Google.
