Firmware bug Galaxy Watch series devices lately missing sleep data and other annoyances

Since the last update or two my Galaxy watch 5 has been randomly missing chunks of sleep data. When I look at the heart rate, HRV, sleep etc there's blank spaces in the middle of the night. Needless to say my sleep score, energy score, HRV etc are all wrong. Once in a while it'll record all night long but most nights it doesn't as of late. Yes, the battery is at leat 80% when I go to sleep and plenty remaining when I wake up. The watch is snugly fit. I've had this watch for 3 yrs and it's only in the last month or so that it's been doing this. Also, when I turn off the sleep mode in the morning it also turns off the 'touch screen to wake' so I have to manually enable it in the settings almost daily. I'm thinking this is likely due to the last firmware update (auto-updates are enabled).

Hello, as you can see in attached image. My hrv calculation graph is broken. HRV calculation is not showing continuous graph, I tried everything and this was happening in watch 7, so I purchased watch ultra 2025 but it is still happening in watch ultra 2025 too. How can I fix it?

@jhjariwala I would suspect that your watch was unable to take those measurements during that time due to your activity or looseness of the fit. I see that once in a while.

but it is every night with that gap. it is similar pattern every night. I will try to wear more fit tonight. Also if it is loose then how does it measure other things?

@jhjariwala I'm guessing HRV requires several sequential readings so that the variability can be calculated over time. If there is a break in the readings, it can't do the math. Other items, like skin temperature are just spot measurements. So getting every other reading, for example, isn't a big impact.

so what is the fix? I am so annoyed that I had galaxy watch 7 and issue was same and I purchased galaxy watch ultra and still there is same issue. Why are there gaps between hrv calculations? It gives continuous graph for my friend ultra watch on his phone.

Try setting it to continuous hr monitoring. Also you band is still to loose or not high enough above your wrist. Other possibility is aftermarket band or adapter not letting watch fit correctly. Try it with Samsung strap if you aren't currently. I notice the temp had breaks to so definitely the fit.

I am using continuous hesrt rate monitoring. I am also wearing band one finger above wrist. I am using just default band/strap that comes with ultra 2025 watch. Heart rate graph shows continuous buy not hrv graph. It seems samsung doesn't care to fix this because I read other threads in this forum having same issues.

I have had the same problem on my ultra and my son have gaps on his 7 classic i have has it checked by samsing service and they set the watch up for sleep

I have also.beem in touch with Samsung in Singapor and I have basically told there is nothing I can do about it

OP here...basically there's no fix as far as Samsung is concerned. I switched to an iphone+apple watch, couldn't be happier. Insights are better, no weird settings changing on their own...everything just works, it's been a breath of fresh air. If I was going to stay Android I would've switched to the Pixel.
