Galaxy WatchI am writing to express my feedback regarding the current implementation of Heart Rate Variability (HRV) tracking on the Samsung Galaxy Watch series, specifically the Watch 8.
While the current automatic overnight HRV monitoring is a useful feature for sleep analysis, the absence of easily accessible, continuous (or frequent periodic) daytime HRV data within the native Samsung Health app is a significant drawback for health-conscious users. Competitor devices, such as the Apple Watch and various Garmin models, provide users with the ability to view detailed, daily HRV metrics (like SDNN).
For users who monitor HRV as a critical indicator of recovery, stress levels, and readiness for exercise, having this data readily available during waking hours is essential. Currently, we are forced to rely on third-party applications to fill this gap, which often leads to increased battery consumption and a disjointed user experience.
The Galaxy Watch hardware is clearly capable of capturing this data. I strongly recommend that Samsung release a software update for the Samsung Health app to include:
Continuous/Frequent Daytime HRV Monitoring Option: Allowing users to enable more frequent background measurements, with a clear warning about potential battery impact.
Detailed HRV Data Display: Providing a dedicated section in the Samsung Health app to view daytime HRV trends and raw data (e.g., SDNN values) alongside heart rate and stress metrics.
Manual On-Demand Measurement: The ability to quickly perform a manual HRV reading during the day.
Adding this functionality would greatly enhance the value proposition of the Galaxy Watch for serious fitness and health tracking enthusiasts and would bring it in line with industry standards.
Thank you for your time and consideration of this feature request.
Sincerely,
NB

Galaxy WatchYou need to send feedback to the developers. The feedback link is in the support tab of the members app. This is a user to user forum and no one here can act on your "request".
