Similar to Apple's Sound app for the Apple Watch. The app can measure the decibel level of the surrounding environment. In addition to this, the app can passively listen to environmental noise and warn the user when volume levels have been dangerously high for dangerously long.

I think the reason that Apple can do that is that IOS only runs on Apple hardware, and Apple has complete control over the tiny list of devices. Samsung supports a much wider variety of devices. Google certainly can't do it because Android is used on everything from flagship models to sub-$100 pre-paid phones.

Samsung only makes so many watches each year. It's not out of the question for them to try and support them. It's the same circular argument that's been thrown around for years about androids and why the image quality sucks on third party apps like snapchat. Samsung designs, produces, and ships their own watches, with their own firmware & software each year; It's not out of the question for them to implement this as a feature.

There are apps, but i haven't found one that you can calibrate for your phone. About the only thing they can do is show that 'this' is louder than 'that.' They can't provide actual measurement, or frequency response, since each phone model has such vastly different hardware.

Apps do exist, but you miss out on the consistent monitoring sound levels functionality, which is the primary purpose that I think most people would find it useful for.
