On Modes under Sleep, Why is there no Always On Display setting for the watch like there is for Relax, Theater, etc? There is only a setting for the phone. Resulting in the AOD not turning off during sleep and staying on all night. This has been an issue since the UI upgrade for the Watch6. This is not an issue when I sleep with my Active2 watch.

Hey I have the same setup and issue as yours. Did the new update finally resolve your issue?

Yes it did and continues to work after a couple of updates since then. You should see the setting for the watch if you have the latest update.

I have GW7 and s23U - I also see this problem - watch does not always sync with  sleep mode on the phone - AOD still there and wake up by wrist turn is also there and sometimes I even wake up from the watch bright screen.

Yep something is definitely broken right now. I never had sync issues before with my s24u and gw6 smh. What a shame. Makes me wonder if it's even worth falling for another phone/watch promo

My watch 5 used to turn off the AOD when I was asleep. That surely helped with battery life. My new watch 8 does not do that and battery life is worse than the old watch.

Turning off the AOD on the watch is part of the sleep mode parameters.  If you turn on sleep mode when you sleep, the AOD goes off. If you don't turn on sleep mode, just because the watch can detect your sleep, it does not mean it automatically activates sleep mode and it's parameters.  If you open the mode and don't see this configured, you can add "turn off AOD"  This is what sleep mode should look like:
