Weird translation issue

Okay, before I raise heck with Samsung, I thought I'd ask you guys. Does anyone know of something that could be causing translations to just be what I assume is the English pronunciation of the text instead of the actual translation?

That's because it's Japanese not Chinese.

Then why did it assume it was Chinese? That's an even bigger screw up. I had it set to auto detect.

Not sure. I use Google Translate. I'll research further.

Normally I do too, but this time I used the translate option that comes up when you long press and highlight text. When I used Gemini and highlighted it, the translation was correct.

From what I have read. Japanese and Chinese share many characters, as Japan originally borrowed its writing system from China. These characters are called Hanzi in Chinese and Kanji in Japanese. While many share the same meaning, pronunciation, grammar, and specific usage can differ significantly between the two languages.

As stated it is simply what the Chinese pinyin says how the characters would be pronounced as romanized.  It is clearly Chinese, but Chinese do not use an alphabet system like most nations do, so translators are going to make the Chinese characters into sounds into terms to pronounce.
