Themes won't work with messages

I need help trying to figure out why themes don't work or special fonts don't work on my messages,was told it needed to be Samsung message appt but it is a still isnt working. Getting no help from support

Samsung Messages has recently lost a lot of its features.

Have you tried Google messages it seems to have more options
