The text box is greyed out/inaccessible on all of my chat messages in Samsung messages. It was working fine 2 hours ago

I did...I also restarted... seems Samsung messages is having some sort of rcs issue

Depends on cause sometimes a restart helps sometimes need to wait it out

Interesting... seems it's my wifi... just turned it off and now chat messages are fine

Wi-Fi will not have anything to do with chat message that are SMS/MMS and RCS, that is solely carrier specific tied to the device phone number. It's was probably a network issue or if the device has a physical SIM card, it could be that for a reason that sorted itself out.

It happens every time I connect to the wifi so yes it is directly a result of that. And while your comment is technically correct, it may not apply here because my phone is Verizon 5G and my home wifi is T-Mobile 5G lol I'm guessing it's a T-Mobile rcs issue and they will sort it out eventually. Thankfully I have an unlimited data plan with Verizon lol

Having 2 networks used on phone will not be a factor i.e wifi vs network carrier
