Galaxy S25New S25FE user here, and first time Samsung phone user. I moved from 5 years with Google Pixel and am still trying to get a hang of all the features, especially the "Modes and Routines" logic. I am completely stuck with my custom Sleep Mode setup for now.
My Goal is to replicate the reliable Pixel Bedtime Mode:
Start Trigger: Sleep Mode turns ON when the phone is Charging AND within a specific Time Window (e.g., 11 PM to 6 AM).
- End Trigger: Sleep Mode turns OFF automatically based on the scheduled wake-up time / next alarm.
My Current Setup & The Problem
To achieve this, I disabled the Sleep Mode's own built-in schedule (Image 1) and created a Custom Routine (named "Charging sleep mode") to handle the start condition (as seen in Image 2 & 3😞
- IF: Charging Status is Charging AND Time period is 11:00 PM - 6:00 AM.
- THEN: Turn on mode (Sleep).
I disabled the exit conditions for the routine so it doesnt swich off the mode.
The Problem: The mode keeps ending prematurely, completely ignoring the 6:00 AM end time.
As the history logs show (Images 4 & 5), the Sleep Mode starts, but then ends in short, sporadic bursts (e.g., Starts 12:51 AM → Ends 1:28 AM; Starts 5:58 AM → Ends 6:03 AM). I have to unplug and plug the charger again.
What is the correct way in One UI to: Start the sleep mode based on charging during night and let it run till morning?
Even letting the sleep mode start on sleep schedule AND THEN plugging the charger in seems not to work. the Sleep mode abruptly ends. Seems like an issue with Sleep Mode and Charging together.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
1. Sleep mode without conditions
2 & 3. Routine to start sleep mode without exit conditions
4 & 5. Sleep mode history - keeps ending on its own

Galaxy S25Unless you wanted to, you did not have to create a new mode, you could have just reconfigured the pre-configured sleep mode. You might do better to leave out the charging parameter, as once the phone is fully charged, the action is stopped and that may be what is ending your mode/routine prematurely. If you keep to a normal sleep schedule, you don't need the charging parameter anyway. Just let it go into sleep mode whether it's on the charger or not. If you are not sleeping at the time it goes into sleep mode, you can always manually turn it off and then back on when you go to sleep.

Galaxy S25Hi, thanks for the reply. My intention of creating a routine to start the sleep mode with charger was precisely to avoid putting off sleep mode in the middle of doing something. But I am more lost due to the incorrect behaviour here. As i already made sure 'no actions will be performed when the routine ends', the sleep mode should not get disabled even when charging is completed. And accordingly, there really is no log of the routine executing except to start the sleep mode.
Also, the other behaviour seems incorrect, where if the sleep mode starts as per schedule, and then phone is plugged in to charge, the sleep mode exits automatically after some time.
I am now leaning towards this being a bug, though not sure.

Galaxy S25I still believe that the charging action stopping stops the routine. Even if "no actions" is chosen, the sleep mode will still end when the charging stops as long as it's a condition of the routine. At any given time you can start and stop a mode or routine manually, so if it happens to start when you are busy, you can just turn it off. Nothing in the mode will prevent you from doing whatever it is you are doing at the time.
Also, you can skip the routine and just set the mode to start automatically during the time period you specify. You can even specify the charging status, however, with the mode it's if either of the conditions are met, not both, so the mode should not end when charging ends. No need to create a routine to automate something that can be automated on its own.
Another way to go would be that if you keep the routine, instead of setting it to no actions after routine ends, set it to keep sleep mode on, of course you will then have to turn sleep mode off manually.

Galaxy S25Thanks @realaud I did suspect that 'charging finishing' is pulling the sleep mode out. But in the screenshots I shared I can confirm that charging had not finished when the sleep mode switching off. Infact if you see the second screenshot, the sleep mode started at 11.35 am when i plugged in (because of the routine), but it ended at 12.12 am on its own, while still plugged and charging (battery was much lower than 100%). I noticed this at 3.02 am and plugged it out and in again and it went into sleep mode and exited again at 4.33 am. same thing repeated at 5.20 am - 6.11 am.
The charging had still not finished - i assumed its because of adaptive charging that it took the whole night to get to 85-90% by morning (this was by 2nd night with the phone - so it could still be learning? IDK).
So here is what i am going doing-
- disabled the routine i had created manually, started the sleep mode last night around 11.30 pm, plugged the charger and let it be. The sleep mode did not exit until morning. This was manual mode so worked as expected.
- tonight i will add charging condition to sleep schedule in the sleep mode and make it an AND and test it out. Also restrict charging to 95%. Lets see.
The main hypothesis I am trying to test is whether charging and sleep mode can stay on together, which I suspect is problematic.

Galaxy S25Depending on what mode you have battery protection on and the state of your electrical connection, the charging may be stopping and starting. I would leave out that parameter and see if that changes anything. Personally, I'd just skip the routine and just schedule sleep mode to go on automatically. As I said before, if you are in the middle of doing something and sleep mode activates, you can still work through it, or just turn it off and then restart it when ready. Actually, if it activates on time, it might just be your cue to stop what you are doing and go to bed. As the health app keeps reminding me, "bedtime consistency is key".

Galaxy S25The way you have your "charging sleep mode" routine set up, sleep mode won't turn on unless you start charging within the time period, which I believe is what you intended. If either one of those conditions is false (changes after the routine has started) then the routine will end.
From what I've researched, it's my understanding that turning off "when routine ends" will either force any on/off actions to turn them specifically off at the ending of the routine, or make the routine behave like a mode. "Off" does not disable exit conditions. You are better off leaving the "when routine ends" on, and setting any of the listed actions within it to either "don't change..." or set "set custom action" to "on" (it'll be like pressing the on switch twice). However, that will mean sleep mode will remain on until you manually turning it off. Depending on the type of action used, most set actions are mirrored in the ending conditions and are set to the default of "Return to status before routine ran".
Plugging in your charger should not turn off your sleep mode. For that to happen either the charging triggered another mode to turn on (as you can only have one mode on at a time), or (as I'd mentioned before) the charging triggered a routine that specifically turns off the sleep mode. However, if there is any conflicting actions between any routines or between routine and mode, then either the second routine is ignored, or the first routine or mode is turned off. Also, if you have included the charger in the sleep mode trigger conditions, it could be set incorrectly, or rather there should not be any case to include the charger in a sleep mode trigger based on your stated intentions. In fact, within your stated intentions, when the time period is set in sleep mode trigger, there should be no need for a routine or mode for the charger.
I can't tell from your picture, but is your routine trigger set to "when 'all' conditions were met" (which is an "and" condition) or "when 'any'..." (the "or")? Double check to be sure it's "when 'all'..." The latest version of Modes and Routines allows you to specify "and" or "or" in both mode and routine.

Galaxy S25You could even set this new mode to only go into effect on work days, allowing you to sleep in on your days off.

Galaxy S25My Galaxy S24 Ultra is doing the same thing. Even though I don’t have any enabled conditions set for the Sleep Mode to activate itself since I use a Routine similar to yours to turn on Sleep Mode, the Sleep Mode stops even though the Routine is still running. I can confirm this since the Routine turns on a SmartThings virtual switch which logs when it is turned on and off, and it doesn’t turn off until the Routine ends even though the Sleep Mode didn’t stay on.
So I’m no longer using the Sleep Mode because of this and I just put the additional actions I had in Sleep Mode into my Routine instead. In fact, the Modes and Routines History shows that it cannot reverse some actions when the Routine ends since the Sleep Mode is already OFF!
I believe that the Sleep Mode is turning itself off when the battery level for whichever battery protection option that’s set is reached even though the battery protection setting or level aren’t even part of the Sleep Mode or the Routine at all.
