Galaxy S25Hello All,
I have a new S25+.
Google messages was the default messaging app.
This morning I installed Samsung Messages to clear out old spam.
Now when I click on our family group, the thread displays the message below. I can READ the messages, but I can't repond. They're all marked MMS.
A new message came in and created a new, separate thread. I can repond to the new thread.
I reactivated Google messages and one, combined message thread is displayed again.
How can I combine the threads in Samsung messages?
Thanks,
-tomas

Galaxy S25Why would you use Samsung messages to clear out old spam? Google messages has a spam filter (or are you simply referring to old, extraneous messages as spam?), and you can just delete individual messages from within a chat thread, or delete the whole chat and start over. Samsung is no longer fully supporting its own messaging app, so there will be glitches, especially when it comes to RCS and group messaging. Carriers only fully support RCS through Google messages and it has the most compatibility between Android and iPhone users. You are going to want to keep using Google messages.

Galaxy S25Individual messages (about 500) from 2021 to now marked as spam.
The spam settings had hidden the messages, but when I clicked on the "Unread" filter, they all showed up. They were most of the app space storesd
In the Google app, you have to open the message to delete it. There is not "bulk delete" option when using the "Unread" option.
I installed the Samsung messaging app since I WAS able to select multiple of these spam messages (in blocks of 100 at a time) and bulk delete.
That's when I noticed that I could not respond to the Family group chat and the all the message were marked as MMS.
A new message came in, a new thread was created, and i WAS able to respond to to that new thread. (Other family members have the same problem on their iPhones). There were now two Family group chats in the app.
Out of curiosity, I re-opened the Google App, and both chat threads were combined into a single Famiy chat.
You and others have mentioned that the Samsung app is no longer supported and I will probably go back to the Google app. I just wish it was easier to identify and bulk delete Spam messages.

Galaxy S25Thanks for the info.
Spam protection has always been on. I can't see my spam messages (normally) but there's over 1GB of data dedicated to SMS.
I don't have a Spam folder (see first image below). If I click on the magnifying glass, I see a filter for unread messages (image 2). The unread view looks like image 3.
These messages can not be bulk deleted nor bulk selected. I have to delete each message one by one.
This is where I was hoping to use Samsung SMS.
Where do you see a spam folder?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Galaxy S25Google messages has a delete all for messages in the spam folder. If you want to delete multiple chats (all messages in specific chats), you can long press one and tap subsequent ones to mark for deletion. Same for multiple messages within chats. Long press one, tap on subsequent ones, hit delete. You can see in my screen shot that I have selected 6 messages for deletion. All I have to do is hit the delete icon. Yeah, I guess it does not have the select all option, and tapping 2000 messages can get tiresome, but it can be done in stages. I believe the select all omission is deliberate to prevent people from selecting all and then later discovering they deleted an important text.
