I just got an S25 (UI8) and noticed the setting to allow more than 3 notification icons in the status bar has been removed. The option to see more than 3 notifications without an extra click in the lock screen is also gone.
This minimalist trend of limiting how much you can see without extra clicks is really annoying and limits usability. Samsung users choose Samsung because we like customization and don't want the limitations of iPhone UI. Please stop copying Apple.

This change comes directly from Google's design language. Samsung has only implemented what Google has directed for Android.

I find it hard to believe they have no control over this. Even if it really isn't possible for them, they should be working with Google to preserve features users want. The option was there in previous UIs; it was removed.

Correct, it *was* in previous versions of the OS. It was changed in Android 15 and implemented by Samsung in One UI 7. You should direct your complaints to Google.

Notification history is available in settings > notifications > advanced settings. You can also get additional control over notifications with Good Lock + NotiStar.

Samsung is given android to use on all their phones for free. That means they have to abide by Google's terms.

Android is open source that's why it's called the AOSP. Did you never stop to think with that actually stood for..? They can do what they want. Google's stranglehold comes from their control of Google Play Services, Firebase, and the Google Play Store.

Also, my Pixel 10 Pro lets me have as many notifications as I want at the top; meanwhile, my Z Fold7 locks this to a maximum of three still.

Just wanted to throw a wrench in your buck-passing plan. This is a Samsung choice and Samsung needs to hear it's customers. They have some of the most secure phones on the planet and because of this, if you live in the US (more specifically, own a snapdragon version of their device) Samsung has capitulated to the pressure of AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile years ago to lock down their bootloaders completely by no longer providing a bootloader unlock option. --meaning you're stuck with what they give you, like it or not.  This is rapidly becoming as out of hand as John Deere.

Quick follow-up: I am in no way a Google fan boy, haven't been since about a year *before* they removed 'Don't be evil' as their company motto. They are just as bad and, in many ways are even worse. Only reason I'm making this differentiation is because it's important to place the blame for this on the party responsible if we want to see a change.

Most humbly, I request you to verify your facts before posting, as that misguides people and protects bad decisions forced upon us, your note almost feels like a sponsored post.

In reality Google / Android 16 imposes no such limitations !!! and almost all other OEMs still allow option to choose the no. of icons to show in the notification bar, like Motrola, viv0, MI etc. You can easily check yourself in the phone review videos over YouTbe or Android 16 documentation.

So it's purely the manufactures decision to add such restrictions in the UI skin, like Samsung did.

So rather than defending Samsung for its wrongdoing, we should raise voice against it and force them to reverse this decision for good.

I also own S25 Ultra and facing a number of issues due this this restriction.

So please research and either amend your post or delete.

Google has reserved the notification area in the status bar for Live Notifications. I use the dot method because I rather use the swipe down method to access my notifications. Always have. I dislike looking at a status bar that is cluttered with notifications.
