Galaxy S25In one co-workers text thread I have text & images from 6 years ago.
I know somewhere is a setting to delete them after 200 or so are there & delete all text.
But why can we not select more than one older text & delete them all at once?
There are many options when selecting an older text from someone, but no way to delete a selected group & keeping the ones wen want to keep. But very easily I can add an emoji to a 6 yar old test, but why?

Galaxy S25You can delete individual text messages, but it's a tedious job if you have to go back years, unless you delete the whole chat. To delete individual texts within a chat, you have to long press one message and go down each one and tap the ones you want to delete. Currently, the only way to mass delete is to delete the entire chat. This is because deletion is a deliberate, mindful act and also (in Google messages, at least) there is no trash and it cannot be undone. If you are still using Samsung messages the process is the same, but there is a trash, so if you delete one by accident, it can be recovered. What you can do is download an app such as SMS backup and restore, backup only the texts in a chat you want to retain (you can choose texts in a date range and a specific chat), then delete the chat and restore the abbreviated backup.

Galaxy S25Samsung forced me to stop using Samsung Messages & switch to Google messages so I do not get the option to delete more than one at a time, yes I have done this until my fingers got tired & accidently the whole thread from me dad which sucks because of some photos & phone numbers he had texted me are now gone.

Galaxy S25I gave you an easy alternative
