Galaxy S25I absolutely despise this DeX update. Seriously, the only reason I chose to upgrade to myself to the S25 Ultra was to use DeX.
Current gripes:
Why are the desktop icons pushed inwards from the edge of the screen? When I try to rearrange, it shows the grid to align them and the grid doesn't extend to the edge of the display like previous. It's almost an icon's width in from the edge.
Why did the search button and app menu buttons get centered on the taskbar? And why can't I move them to the left with the Back, Home, and Recent Apps buttons? It's more of a "phone interface" than a desktop interface.
Where's the "start menu" that DeX had? It's just the centered app menu. No option to lock screen or exit DeX. This feels like the Windows 8 trickery Microsoft pulled.
Seems like more than a few options have gotten removed from the DeX Settings page.
Message notifications aren't popping up in the lower right like they used to and I don't see any options in the notification settings for DeX.
The two biggest pluses I've seen are:
Chrome hasn't crashed yet (a problem since the early Sept update) as it appears to be the desktop version while in DeX mode which I do really like.
The Back, Home, and Recent Apps buttons mirror the order that I have them on my phone (I'm a lefty, so the back button on the left helps and my minor OCD twinged when it wasn't reflected on the desktop previously.) Hardly a justification for celebration.
I get it that it's now based off the Google's Desktop Mode, but shoot, there has to be more customizability than this. It seems like there's more phone/tablet interfacing than desktop, which I had thought was DeX's whole spiel. Honestly, I'm the last person to embrace changes openly, but when they happen I tend not to complain and learn the changes. This has me complaining.

Galaxy S25This is a forum where Samsung users attempt to assist other Samsung users with their Samsung products and services. While we do have some moderators here, their main function is to police community policy infractions.
Are you looking just to vent?
Looking for community feedback?
Or are you wanting to reach out to Samsung?
If the latter, your suggestion would be better provided to Samsung by accessing the 'Send Feedback' form in this app. Go back to the main page, tap the 'Support' tab, then, under 'Quick Help', tap 'Send Feedback'.

Galaxy S25"Thank you for using Samsung Members App.
Please replicate and send separate error report for each issue
We also need to get more information such as detailed steps taken to reproduce the issue, Any specific conditions/settings of your device is in when the issue is experienced. If you can also share screenshots of the issue/error or video recording of the issue as it happens so our Developers can analyze the issue properly.
We appreciate your business."
Seems kinda canned. And how exactly am I to screen record the difference in versions when rolling back isn't a decent option?

Galaxy S25After the update, all of the edges of the desktop were missing! I could try to blindly click things with the mouse & mostly miss. And, there wasn't a change in DEX settings on my phone that made it better.
I happened to remember an app I used for unsupported Desktop mode on my old OnePlus running android 11, Second Screen. Then remembered it required Root permissions. BUT, they had updated the app to be compatible with Shizuku! Not the most convenient scenario.v And I wasn't very optimistic it was going to even help. But, I got it working quickly & set up SS for my resolution & tested. It worked!
I also noticed that there's no "force desktop" option in developer settings now...just an FYI.

Galaxy S25Apologies for "hijacking" your thread, but seeing your post (and it's not the first one) finally triggered my own need to vent about this.
Especially because one of my main reasons for upgrading to the S25U was specifically to utilize the new, stupidly powerful custom SOC with Dex.

Galaxy S25The best, most visible example of DeX changing things for the worse, at least for me - besides the visual changes you're listing here of course! - is this visual glitch with Whale Trail Frenzy, one of my favorite games (the only one I keep on my phone for now!) wherein everything is squished inward. Seems like the horizontal resolution is reduced significantly without scaling or stretching (neither of which is desirable, but neither is this reduction either! Heh), and it doesn't take up the whole screen anymore. That's a bummer, and I hope it's fixed, along with all the other things, soon.

Galaxy S25For me this new dex with one ui 8 ruined my experience
The only reason I bought a Samsung tablet was to use it in classic dex mode, the fact that samsung has now locked that away behind a mandatory connection to another monitor is absurd, and def makes me question buying another samsung product in the future.
its so simple guys , give people the option to use old dex until google gets their act together and makes a proper desktop mode. This update to dex feels like the most anti-consumer move you could have made , shipping an inferior half baked product.
