New S25 Ultra - Notifications not working

Howdy!

Received my new S25 Ultra yesterday, set it up via SmartSwitch. Everything transferred correctly but none of my notifications are working. 
 
Zero.
 
I have gone though forum postings that other people have posted looking for solutions and most of those has been DND or a routine turned on blocking notifications. 
 
Things I've checked:
 
  • Do Not Disturb is TURNED OFF.
  • No Modes or Routines are running (there aren't any setup).
  • Sound is on.
  • Vibrate is on.
  • No icons or app badges show up on the top.
  • The apps that I am testing with I have confirmed that notifications are turned on.
  • All the options are selected for the notification options (Lock Screen, App icon badge, Notification pop-up).
  • This happens if the phone is sleeping or awake.
  • My old phone is still using Wi-Fi and notifications work fine on that one (other than messages and phone cause that's tied to the SIM). Turning off the old phone and waiting a few minutes and trying on the new phone, same thing happens.
  • If I open the offending app, I can see the unread messages.
Other than wiping the phone, skipping the SmartSwitch and starting from scratch, I am not sure how to move forward.

My issues seem to be gone.  When Android 15 was announced, one of the benefits touted was changes to Doze to make it more efficient.  I suspect what happened is that apps needed to make changes in their code to work better with the new Doze.  All of my major apps like Instagram, Messages, WhatsApp, Gmail, Outlook, etc... worked from day 1.  Apps I used from smaller developers, like Birdfy (an app I used to monitor a camera on my hummingbird feeders) didn't work until recently when they updated their app.  Over the last couple of months the number of apps and times I have experienced this has dwindled to 0.  I'm getting all my notifications as I should without delay.  If any of you still are, list the app that is getting the delayed notification and I'll test it out and see if the same thing happens.  

 

This was never a problem unique to Samsung, you can read about this in the Pixel forums as well.

Hmm my case is a little different. All of my app notifications work with the exception of those same apps in the work profile.

Ive taken this to a new level and searched out folks inside of my company - others that have this same issue, work profile apps with the galaxy watch ultra do NOT have this issue unless they are using a s25. It is tied to the s25/s25 ultra in some way. Ive logged a bug report and while I continue to see activity in that report, no fix yet.

Same issue here. I trouble shoot everything.  I think it is system flaw.  Samsung has one year warranty.  Taking it in to get a new phone.

My transfer was from Galaxy Note 10+ to S25 Ultra via Smart Switch, cable transfer.  I had the same issue with ONLY Yahoo Mail for about 4 days until now. Everything else seems to work, thankfully.

I did something someone on page 3 or 4 mentioned about uninstalling and manually updating the Yahoo Mail app.  Actually I didn't do that, but I did uninstall my app and install the SAMSUNG version from the Samsung store.  Did you know the apps look completely different?  I don't know why.

Anyways, I seem to be getting Yahoo Mail notifications now.  I am not sure whether I am having the same problem with other apps I've yet to notice, I will find out in time.

If you guys are having problems try installing Samsung versions of your apps.  Sadly Samsung does not seem to care about this (seemingly) widespread issue.

Edit: Thinking on it now, if you had the Samsung version of an app before, try installing the Play Store version. Might also work.  Just a thought.

Same issue for me. My Fold 7 is fine. I'm only experiencing the issue with my S25.

This same thing happened to me in July from s22u to s25u lock t mobile. Used smart switch spent 3 weeks dealing with this 6 resets and still not working . So t mobile sent me a brand new s25u and I set it up and 100 new phone . I also had to download apps one by 1 fresh from the Google play store and Galaxy store. It if the problem. The problem is smart switch during this whole process i discovered that smart switch brought over old apps and system apps from my Note 20 Ultra to the 25 and it **bleep**g corrupted the device. And also restoring that backup from Google instead of using Smart Switch also brought corrupted data because Google change your security policies and saying there's apps out of date when they weren't and it freaked the phone out. The way Google is changing stuff is not playing nice with older phones and older backup data so you pretty much going to start over fresh going forward. I hope this helps. Today is October 21st 2025 it took me two months to figure this from out and get it sorted out it was **bleep** to the point that I might switch to Apple after 20 years being a Samsung fanboy.
