Message notifications are muted

My text messages will not give an audible notification. I have gone through the settings and verified there is a sound assigned to it, and yes, the notifications are turned on. I grt the pop-up notification at the topnotch my screen, but no sound. When I look at the notification settings, there is a greyed out bell with a line through it right next to the app name, and I can't figure out how that happened or how to make it go away.

Accepted Solutions

Try going to the Play store and see if there is an uninstall option there. There should be. This app has to be uinstalled from the store. If there is not, try going to the app settings/storage and deleting the cache and data. This should refresh the app. You will have to configure your settings again, but this may bring back the option. There is no explanation for why it's not there.

Omg yes I have this same issue, same with just about any texting app just being finicky. (Somwtimes their like thst sometimes their not but the pre installed one is always like that and its like this could have been a emergency)

Is the message notification the only notification not making a sound?

Yes. Almost other notifications are working fine.

Have you tried assigning a different sound in case the sound file somehow got corrupted?

Is this new behavior since the update? Which messaging app are you using?

I just got the phone on Monday. It's been like this since I got it as fast as I know.

Are you using Samsung Messages or Google messages? Do you have notification categories turned on?
