Is there a way to change S25 Ultra settings to **Automatically** Save an Edited Photo as a *NEW File* INSTEAD OF REMEMBERING to go to the Menu and select "Save copy?" I have looked for settings in the Photo Editor Settings, the Gallery Settings, and in the list of apps, such as Gallery Editor Settings and cannot find anything to change the default to leave my original in its original state and save my edits as an entirely new and separate photo. THIS IS VERY SCARY, because it would be easy to forget to do this EXTRA when in a hurry. Because I had not edited a photo on my new 2-day old  S25 Ultra, and my photos are very valuable to me, I did think to save my first edited photo as a copy - just in case the phone would delete my original. Then I did a test edit on the (1) Copy. My fears were realized!! The original copy disappeared and I was left with only the new edit. I can never go back to get that photo. I had a NOTE 9 until two days ago, and it automatically saved edited photos as a *new photos* with *new file names* that recorded the time the edited photo was saved. I can't believe a phone as advanced as the S25 Ultra would be so negligent as to not save an edited photo as a separate photo from the original. Am I looking in the wrong place or overlooking the solution?

You have to manually choose Save a Copy.

@Artist714Mc If you ever need the original photo back, click on the pencil icon to edit the photo. Then click Revert at the top of the screen. You will have the original photo back.

Thank you for helping me. I went back to my test photo and was surprised to see that I can revert to the original of my edited photo after it was saved. But if I do that, then I lose my edited version!! I don't want to lose any versions. I want to automatically have both versions by default without having to take extra steps every time I edit a photo. My Note 9 always saved both the original and the new version. The only time it did not save the original is when I rotated the photo that was sideways. That was okay, because I didn't lose any megabytes. I want the phone to automatically save both the original and the edited version without having to specify a copy. Since it looks like you are an expert, I guess you're saying there is no Setting that I can set in order for the phone to simply *add* the edited version to my gallery by default. Am I correct?
