I am experiencing a significant problem with the Google messages app as it repeatedly closes (crash) when I open it on my S25 Ultra, US edition. I have tried clearing the cache, uninstalling and reinstalling the app, but the issue persists, rebooting the phone and still the issue is present. What steps can to resolve this?

This should answer your question however be very careful when using Google. Unless you go in and turn off 90% of their settings you are going to be amazed at the information they keep on you. In fact depending on how long you had your phone you could go back several years and under location pick up certain day and it'll tell you where you stop for gas what road you took and how long you were on it everything. And then of course they sell it to brokers. Open your Google and on the upper right the icon your name and then manage your account and you'll see that it keeps track of more stuff than you believe turn all that **bleep** off. If you want to protect yourself use the free brave browser. And as far as your messaging at stopping you need to clear the couch.
If Google Messages is not working on your Samsung phone, it could be due to several reasons. First, ensure you have the latest version of Google Messages installed. Also, verify that Google Messages is set as your default texting app and that your carrier supports the messaging types you're using (SMS, MMS, or RCS). Check your internet connection and ensure you're not on airplane mode. If you're switching from another device, make sure you've deactivated iMessage for your number. Finally, try restarting your phone or clearing the app's cache and data.

Here's a more detailed breakdown of potential issues and solutions:

1. App Issues:

Update Google Messages: Make sure you have the latest version of the app installed.

Clear Cache and Data: Go to your phone's settings, then apps, and select Google Messages. Clear its cache and data.

Force Stop: Force stop the app from your phone's settings.

Restart your phone: A simple reboot can often resolve temporary glitches.

2. Connection Issues:

Check Internet: Make sure you have a stable internet connection (Wi-Fi or cellular).

Airplane Mode: Ensure airplane mode is off.

SIM Card: Make sure your SIM card is inserted properly.

Mobile Data: Ensure background data is enabled for Google Messages in your phone's settings.

VPN: If using a VPN, try turning it off.

3. Settings and Permissions:

Default Messaging App: Verify that Google Messages is set as your default texting app.

RCS Settings: If you've switched messaging apps, you may need to turn off RCS chats in Google Messages to receive messages.

Background Data: Check that background data is enabled for Google Messages in your phone's settings.

Battery Optimization: If battery optimization is enabled, try disabling it for Google Messages.

4. Carrier and Plan Issues:

Carrier Support:

Make sure your carrier supports the messaging types you're using (SMS, MMS, RCS).

Plan or Credit:

Check your plan or credit balance to ensure you have enough to send/receive messages.

Check for a Google Play System update. There were 2 yesterday .

Go to settings, security, and privacy, updates, Google Play System, check for updates. When you do the first one go back and check again.

Same issue for me! I have uninstalled and reinstalled, cleared cache, and rebooted in just about every combination. So frustrating. Please respond back if anyone finds a solution.

This worked for me on S24:

1. Long press on app icon

2. Press (i) to go to "App Info"

3. Storage > clear cache. (I was afraid to lose my messages if I clear data as well, so I didn't)

4. Still in "App info", press the three dots in the top right corner of the screen > "Uninstall updates". This should reset the app to factory settings without losing data.

5. Reinstall all updates.
