Google Play System Updates

 I am wondering what is the current update you have for Google Play System Update?

 I am only on August 1st 2025 update.

I am unsure why Samsung constantly gets behind on these updates?

Is security a priority for Samsung?

Samsung seems to be blocking Play system updates, for whatever reason. I have two Samsung devices stuck on July & September. My OnePlus received the January update soon after Google published it.

For what it's worth, Samsung has not blocked security patches. It's just Play system updates. I'm sure we'll never know why.

I am probably considering another manufacturer on my next phone purchase after my device reaches the 2 year old mark. I can't name brands here because of the content restrictions.

Of course you can name brands here. There is no restriction on that.

I'm fine with it, considering that the sideloading block will be delivered via those updates.

Is it a pain yes, does it affect the phone, no. Samsung has a compatibility problem with some of the Play System updates. Mostly Live Notifications, Google Play System updates break Luve Notifications. Google hasn't implemented live notifications in the Status bar for Pixels yet. My Pixel and my S25U both running music.

Ps. On my Pixel using the stock Pixel launcher the only way to get icon packs, Folder Widget, great app. On Samsung you can stack them.

I've read online that there is an issue with UI 8 blocking the Google System updates. The reporter was hoping the roll out of 8.5 would fix it. I'm stuck on September which is like 3 updates behind

I am on UI 8.0. Samsung has not pushed out 8.5 UI with my current phone. I am also using Google Fi for phone service. So you think I would get the update sooner. That doesn't even help with updates at all. I may switch to another type of phone in 11 to 13 months to fix this issue.
