How can I watch wired HDMI via USB-c to an HDMI adapter? What app or setting do I need? (don't need WiFi or Bluetooth both of those are working fine)

Trying to use S24 as an external wired video monitor for my Sony Camera (RX10 IV). The camera is outputting HDMI content, verified with a traditional computer monitor.

There is no factory way to do that.

You might be able to find a 3rd party app but I've never heard of something like that.

The USB-C/HDMI adapter should be plug and play.  Did you make sure you have auto blocker turned off?  Can you post a picture of the adapter? Is it a little dongle with USB-C on one end, and HDMI port on the other that you want to plug the HDMI cable into?  If the adapter is not OTG capable, you may have to use an intermediary OTG USB-C (male)/USB-C (female) adapter.  If you are using the same type of USB/HDMI adapter I use between my computer  and my monitor, you might have to use the OTG adapter in between the adapter and the phone.

@realaud Plug and play if you are sending your phones video to a monitor. Not plug in play when trying to use your phone as a monitor for another video source.

Yeah... Whenever I see that being done, it's always by a studio production company (such as Lights & Magic). So I get the impression that they had to do their own programing to build that rig.

However, I did find this Reddit post that claims that the feature might exist hidden in some phones. https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/18xz4vw/mishaal_rahman_how_to_use_your_samsung_phone_as_a/
(Note that this is between PC and phone though.) Maybe you are lucky and this helps you. Of course, the usual caveat that this is an unsupported feature and you should proceed with caution and at your own risk.

Update:
It turns out there are quite a few YouTube videos explaining how to do this, and it's more involving, requiring additional hardware. And the app you need is one specific to tying USB to camera.

Here is one such video:
