Hi;

I am trying to update / fix my profile card on my Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.  Somehow a new address has replaced my correct home address and a totally new address labelled "None" has been added (I have no idea how it got there) in the "Places" section of my profile card.  I've tried editing the "Places" section by clicking the edit pencil and then selecting the little gyroscope icon to recenter the map on my correct home address.  Every time i do this it puts the right address in, but when I go to save the correct info I get an error message that says "Couldn't connect to the server.  Check your network connection and try again."  I've tried a lot of the suggestions to fix whatever is wrong with my network connection that I find when when I do a search on the web.  My phone connects fine to our Wi-Fi connection though, so that's not an issue.  I've even been able to add another new address in the "Places" section though.  This one has me totally baffled and I was hoping someone in the community would know how to get my correct home address back in where it belongs and delete that random new address that suddenly appeared.

You can try booting into safe mode and trying to make the change within safe mode.  There may be some external app interfering with your effort to change things. Did you install any app just prior to finding this mysterious place on your profile card? The only other thing I can suggest, you are not going to want to do, and that would be to completely factory reset your phone and restore your backup.  This will not reset your SIM or mobile plan, as you can choose to reset with or without resetting your networks.

Hopefully, someone else will come up with other suggestions for you, but if you are not going to follow the suggestions of the developers, who read your logs, I don't know if either I, or anyone else, can give you options you find acceptable.

Have you tried making the correction over mobile data, rather than wi-fi?  I have no idea if this would make a difference, but can't hurt to try.   Can you not delete the bogus entry once you enter the new one?  What happens if you type in your address manually, instead of using the location beacon?

I tried using mobile data to make the changes instead of Wi-Fi , but it still does the same thing and I still get the error message "Couldn't connect to the server.  Check your network connection and try again."

I cannot delete the bogus entries after I enter my correct address using the location beacon or a saved search result.  It. will populate the correct address to the field, but when I try to save the correct address I get the error message "Couldn't connect to the server.  Check your network connection and try again.'

If I try to type the address manually using the search function I receive a message "No results found."

If I try to add a Wi-Fi network, an option under "Current Location", I receive a message "That Wi-Fi network is already assigned to another place."

Does anyone know what is happening with my profile card and how to fix it so it works as designed?

Have you tried clearing the cache of the contacts app and/or the phone itself?  It could be a simple glitch. In the scheme of things, is the profile card important? It is also within the realm of possibility that the actual server is having issues.

After clearing the caches, if it still doesn't work,  you should put in an error report.  Aside from including your logs (which should be done within an hour of replicating the error), you should create a screen recording of going through the steps you are taking to change it, up until the inevitable server error and attach that video to the error report (they are going to ask you for it anyway).

Hi again;

I cleared the cache and data from both the contacts app, as well as the phone.  This / These issues have been happening since late last week or early in the weekend.  So, I doubt the servers would have been having issues that long without Samsung and / or Google issuing some form of warning message or advisement.

I sent an error report to Samsung late last evening.  I didn't send a screen recording as I copied and pasted my original post from here (with minor tweaks), as well as my reply to your first reply (with minor tweaks again).  I didn't send any logs, as I didn't know which ones they would want, and there's a limit of 10 Mb attachments to error reports.  I told them that if they let me know which log they wanted I'd be .happy to send it to them.

The logs are collected automatically when you start a feedback report.  If you did not uncheck the box to send the logs, they went automatically.  A copy of the logs is downloaded to your phone. If they did not, you will hear from the programmers asking for them after you replicate the issue.  All the logs are collected and sent and the will look at what they need.  The log files are not counted in the upload limit, that is for the attachments, such as photos and videos.  I doubt screen recording of you going through the steps you are taking would take up 10 Mb.

As suggested by @realaud earlier I sent an error report to Samsung Support.  They responded within 4 hours.  I'm waiting to hear back from them again.  They suggested that I power off my phone, remove the SIM card, check the SIM card for damage, then reinsert the SIM card.  They then said to see if I can update my home address to the "Places" section of my Profile Card.  The only sticking point is that I don't have a SIM card, I have an eSIM card.  I'd rather not lose all the info the eSIM card holds.  So I'm waiting to see if Samsung has any suggestions on dealing with the eSIM card situation.  I'd rather not have to delete the eSIM card and then have to deal with my cell phone carrier to get a new QR code and set my phone up again.

Did you add the additional information that you have an eSIM to the report?

@realaud When I replied to the Samsung email suggesting I remove then replace the SIM card I mentioned that I had an eSIM card.  I also mentioned I'd rather not lose all the info on the eSIM card.  I also don't relish  and would rather not have to deal with my cell phone carrier to get a new QR code and setup my phone again.  It's usually a 1 to 2 hour wait on hold to get to talk to a cell phone service support technician.

Who is your carrier that it would take that long? Your carrier does not have a call back option? Are there no carrier stores near you? What information, other than your phone plan is contained on your eSIM? If it's contacts, they can be/should be backed up to Google and can also be backed up to a file.
