Is there a setting to allow icons on the home screen to not be locked to the grid and be placed freely? If not, is it a planned feature? It would be nice to allign my icons to my wallpaper, but 5x6 and 4x6 grids dont work.

That is not possible with One UI Home. You would have to use a third-party launcher.

Yes you can! Look up the "DIY home screen" in the "Home Up" module of "Good Lock".

Just be aware that DIY Home is still beta and may not work as expected.

Definitely try home up module in good luck. You can also check to make sure that your home screen isn't locked by long pressing the home screen and selecting the settings icon, scroll down and make sure lock home screen layout is toggled off.

You could get 'rolling icons' it makes the icons move in a non-snap to grid way
