Unable to locate the Flashlight icon since the new update

Cannot find icon to turn flashlight on or off since new update.???

I'm having multiple problems. Most aggregious right now are 1/ my side button no longer does anything. It used to be my press & hold button to bring up the restart & power off buttons. 2/ I can't find the flashlight icon either. I don't get all the stuff that is displayed earlietlr in this thread.

What happens when you select the pencil icon on the top right corner when you pull down the notification shade?

no, I see nothing there , no flashlight at all.
