This has been driving me mad for weeks. Samsung gallery updated the text search, so now anytime you click on an image with the text you searched, it loads for a few seconds and then highlights the text in the image. (As if i cannot read) Is there any way to turn this off?

There is no direct setting to permanently disable the text highlighting when viewing an image in the Samsung Gallery after a text search.

It highlights it to show you that it found the search term you were looking for. I don't know of any text search feature on any device that does not do this.  Search a pdf, text is highlighted, search a browser page, text is highlighted, etc.  I don't know about you, but I find it helpful to have the text highlighted so I know I found the right picture, document, document segment.

The problem is that this was not a thing until very recently for me. Maybe in some niche scenerio it can be useful, but it had not happened yet for me. I would be fine with it if the loading didnt essentially freeze the app for a few seconds everytime i clicked an image. I cannot share a photo, swipw to the next one, edit a photo, etc while its loading and it is exceedingly frustrating.

It may not have been a thing for you because *that* was the glitch.  I have never seen an app with a text search function that did not actually highlight the word(s) when found on any device.  It brought up your photos with the text in it, so what's the irritation?  You should save that for if the search was not working properly and brought up random things.

Also, even if it was not a glitch before, just because something was one way once, does not mean it's going to stay that way forever.  My guess is they brought it into conformity with other search apps.
