I have to request a unlock every time my phone restarts since the update. This wasn't previously the case, the unlock would last for 30 days.

T-Mobile has now stated I have exceeded my unlocks and I'm unable to use the phone. Someone at Samsung needs to address this.

This isn't how it's supposed to work, it has lead to huge issues. You are usually able to restart the phone and then unlock doesn't expire until 30 days. This left me stranded in an unknown area with no data and unable to use maps to navigate.

I'm sorry, but if you bought a T-Mobile branded phone, the only solution is to pay off the device in full and have the carrier unlock it completely if you've used up the temporary unlock attempts.

Unlock eligibility requirements

We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge.

Device eligibility is determined as follows:

  • The device must be sold by T-Mobile.
  • The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
  • The account associated with the device must be in good standing.
  • The device must also satisfy all the Postpaid or Prepaid unlocking requirements outlined below.

Unlock eligibility for mobile devices on Postpaid plans

  • The device must have been active on the Tโ€‘Mobile network for at least 40 days on the requesting line.
  • If the device was financed or leased through Tโ€‘Mobile then all payments must be satisfied and the device must be paid in full.
  • If the device is associated with a canceled account, then the account balance must be zero.
  • Tโ€‘Mobile may request proof of purchase or additional information in its discretion and certain other exceptions may apply.

Unlock eligibility for mobile devices on Prepaid plans

  • At least  365 days  must have passed since the device was activated on the T Mobile network.
  • If the device was activated less than 365 days ago, then the   Prepaid account associated with the device must have had more than $100 in refills during that period for each line active on the account.  In   addition, more than 14 days must have passed since the device was purchased.
  • No more than 2 mobile device unlocks have been complete per line of service in the last 12 months.
  • Tโ€‘Mobile may request proof of purchase or additional information in its discretion and certain other exceptions may apply.

Fully aware of that, I'm however in another country for an extended period. This feature worked fine before the One UI 8 update and needs to be rectified by Samsung. I shouldn't be requesting an unlock each time my phone restarts or the battery dies it's a major inconvenience and may become one for other users who travel.

Man u have some special ability to miss the point. It would last for 30 days whether the phone restarts or not. It's now a bug since each time the phone dies I have to request an unlock making the usage of the device unstable. That part is an OS issue which needs to be fixed by Samsung. I'm not the only user experiencing this. You would think having a feature working how it should isn't in the best interest of the phone users
