Is there a way to keep amber alerts and emergency alerts on, but just simply silence the notification? I see the option to turn it off completely, but I would rather get these alerts silently and keep them on.

No, not possible. Even if your phone is on mute it gets overridden, as it should.
Emergency alerts are just that, Emergencies.

I understand what youre saying but if theres an option to turn off these emergencies completely, I dont get why theres no middle ground to be able to silence them. Thanks for the info tho

I don't think you can silence them. Maybe when your phone is on do not disturb. I think it might still send the notification with it silent

I do not believe so, as the nature of those alerts is that they are meant to get your attention.  You can lower your system volume, and you should not hear the alerts, or any other system sound.  Open settings/sounds and vibration/ volume and then slide the system sound slider all the way off.  You can also do this by opening the sound panel using either volume button and tapping the 3 dots across the top of the volume slider.

Thanks for letting me know. I have a feeling theres some system sounds id still like to hear so I won't mess with that. I just think its weird that we can turn off the alerts altogether but theres no way to still get the notifications silently. But yea this is good to know

You think the alert is bad, not only do I get that alert, in my area, I get the alert on my phone, my TV (if I'm watching it), I get a phone call and a text message, plus a phone call on my landline from the Sheriff's Dept.  I have my system sounds low, so I can still hear the sounds I want, but I noticed it also lowered the sound for the alerts.  You can turn off the reminders and you can turn off alerts always at full volume (but this will do it for all alerts).  Keeping it set to always at full volume will override do not disturb settings, although some critical alerts will get through.  I imagine these would be the national alerts and severe alerts (hurricanes, tornadoes, flash flooding, etc.).
