Hi Samsung - It would be nice if Samsung made an official announcement as to whether it plans on keeping Samsung messages or not. I have both apps and I prefer Samsung messages and on YouTube videos I see a lot of users still using it. When I use it it causes a lot of issues especially with texting iPhone users in groups, but I don't hear any complaints from anyone else in posts. If Samsung does not plan on keeping the app, they should remove it for everyone to avoid these type of questions. Keeping it around gives hope.

I really wish Samsung would keep improving Samsung Messages, cause that is a really cool messaging app, and I really don't wanna see it go.

💯 agree‼️ I love it. Just add RCS and reactions and it is set!

My reply looks weird. I just said I 100% agree in the first part of the message

Samsung cannot "just add RCS," unfortunately. RCS is largely carrier dependant, and the majority of carriers have adopted Google's implementation because they can use Google's existing infrastructure rather than building and implementing their own.

Tapback management could possibly be added. I believe it recently was in S. Korea.

Samsung has likely not made an official statement because the transition away from Samsung messages isn't a simple discontinuation. The phasing out of SMessages has less to do with internal decisions at Samsung and more to do with Google Partnerships to push RCS messaging and individual carrier support.

Samsung is actively adding features to Samsung messages in regions like S. Korea, where the tech/cellular infrastructure is a bit different. It seems like Samsung is keeping SMessages an option at the moment to gradually transition users in certain regions to GMessages without removing choice from users.

Makes sense.
Regardless, if they are keeping it in our region for now they should maintain it so that it can be used without issues. Because all the time I use it I have issues where the current group message that I'm using becomes a read-only type of message. Or it splits it into a second message thread with the same group of people. It's so weird and annoying and then I have to go back to Google messages.

If your carrier doesn't support RCS capabilities that is on your carrier, not Samsung.

Google messages with RCS turned on do not go through carrier servers to deliver messages. Google has its own Jibe (Google) servers that handle their messages.

Samsung is not going to implement a system where they are the server host for any kind of messaging service.

Generally speaking, it is simply Samsung's failure to maintain compatibility in order to make as much money as possible by partnering with google. Obviously, they could find several answers to the problem, not the least of which being the use of google's rcs servers, but by and large it's their app, on their phones. These problems happen because Samsung refused to properly design anything beyond copying the worst of modern iPhones.
