just like what others are experiencing. My Samsung S24 Ultra just suddenly stop reading external drive. What is happening? Any fix on this issue?

Have you tried rebooting your phone and clearing the system cache?

Just an external drive or all USB external devices?

Can you connect to a computer, wired headphones?

Is your phone charging properly?

You have corroded pins in your port. You will have to have it replaced.

I just went through the same exact problem. I could only charge my phone slowly.

When I went to get the port replaced the tech said they were corroded, Samsung does not cover corroded pins in your port. Samsung does not cover this under warranty. It is considered damage not malfunction.

Depending on whether you have care + or not will determine how much you have to pay. I have Samsung Care + it was $99 to replace the port.

Lesson learned, humidity corroded my pins. I now have a USB plug in my port on a lanyard attached to my case.

Did you accidentally turn on maximum protection in the security settings? If that's turned on, the USB can only be used for charging.

This is really strange - SG Tab 10+, SG Tab 8+, and SG S24 Ultra all allow a USB-C dongle to connect/mount, but not the external M.2 USB drive - the system wants to charge that device and it cannot be changed, AND YET, the M.2 USB drive will connect to the iPad tablet without issue and the M.2 USB will connect to the WIndows PC and Windows Laptop without issue. The M.2 USB is formated for exFat. Once upon a time it worked without issues on the SG tablets and phone. I am baffled and befuddled.
