Samsung Continuity Service is constantly draining my battery

The post is in the title, I've been struggling with this for the 5 months I've owned this S24 FE and I have a feeling it has something to do with Link To Windows. As the only way to (temporarily) stop it is to disconnect Link To Windows and reconnect. Sometimes this simply doesn't work and it continually wakes the phone up from sleep every 2 seconds and causes a bunch of wasted CPU cycle time. Yesterday for instance it used 40% of my battery, doing literally nothing. This isn't acceptable and it's beyond frustrating that we aren't given the controls to limit it's background usage (of course, these options are completely greyed out). I've tried disabling/reenabling permissions, I've uninstalled Link to Windows at least a dozen times now too, it just chooses when it wants to work unfortunately. Please fix this Samsung.

Can you post a screenshot of your battery statistics screen.  I have a feeling it's not the continuity service itself, but the apps that are calling for its use, since I have yet to ever see continuity services in my battery usage. Which is not to say it isn't happening for other people, just maybe mine is working properly and, for some reason, yours is not.  Continuity services cannot and should be put to sleep, as it is a necessary app for making your phone to share with other Samsung devices.  If you are using LTW or call and text on other devices, or DeX,  and those devices remain connected and active, it will drain more battery than just sitting there waiting to be called.  It is also necessary for your connected BT devices, wi-fi, etc. to work.  This is why usage goes down when you disconnect from LTW.  Go to settings/apps/Link to Windows and Link to Windows service and clear the cache then go to the battery section and see if the battery usage coincides, roughly, with the continuity services usage.

Like, I completely get the desire to prevent less tech-inclined people from damaging their systems by messing around and then proceeding to jam up tech support resources, but when system apps are very clearly not operating the way they are supposed to then giving a well-informed user a way to actively fix that would be incredible. Also, for clarity, it does this drain with LTW connected, disconnected, and even uninstalled. It's completely random when the continuity service breaks and starts locking the CPU into running for hours on end. 08FFPFhSiZ.pngJohu2WTa7W.png

Well, the problem with that, is that the phone has no way of knowing who is an informed user or someone who only thinks they know what they are doing and then go and muck things up.  It's safer to just not let people mess with it.  Doing anything to hinder its performance will surely mess up many other things.

That being said, there is clearly something else happening here causing the app to be in overdrive. As I said, most likely the apps that are using it. Also, as I have mentioned, in all the years I've had a Samsung phone, I have never seen it in my battery usage stats.  Checking battery tracker in Good Guardians, I have seen that once it used 0.44% of my battery in the last 24 hours with background usage of 11h 28m.  By extrapolation, if your background time was 22h 15m, it should have only used 0.88%, perhaps even a whole percent.

You can try clearing the app data by going to apps/continuity service/storage and clear the data.  There may be something corrupted that is causing the app to be in overdrive.

If you have not done so already, try wiping the phone's cache partition.

performance and extend battery life.

Light performance profile: Within Settings > Device care, you can select the "Light" profile to prioritize battery life over speed.

Display, set a shorter time before your screen turns off.

Enable Adaptive brightness: This feature automatically adjusts screen brightness, which can save power.

Turn off Always-On Display: If enabled, this feature constantly shows information, using significant battery.

Already have all of these things set to the most efficient settings, I appreciate the thought tho.
