Random Gong notification sound

Is anyone else experiencing a random gong notification, without receiving an actual notification.

My phone will pick random hours to play a gong type notification since the update. It does it whether the phone is on silent or ring mode. Ive reset, checked notifications, notifications history, and routines. nothing is working.

Did you recently download a bible app?  Someone here just had the same issue and it turned out to be the bible app they downloaded.  Uninstall the app and use a different bible app.  But, if you did not, then nice catch will help you find the culprit.  If it just started happening, though, it's one of the last apps you downloaded.

So you know I have been using the same Bible app for a long time, but I did download another for periodical reading but turned off notification so maybe that's it too.

What I understood from the other user is that the app alarm overrode having the notifications off (alarms *always* override any volume/notification settings) and they couldn't find a setting inside the app to turn it off either, so they ended up uninstalling the app.  You can poke around in the app settings to see if you can adjust the alarm times/volume, or turn them off, but I don't know if it can be done.  Did  you download the "Simple Bible" app?

OK.  So, I downloaded the Simple Bible app just to poke around in the settings.  I found a setting to not allow the reminder alarms.  tap the "more" icon on the bottom  right of the screen and then tap "reminder alarms", and when the pop-up appears, select "do not allow".

Found it. The simple bible app has a setting called "reminder alarms". Set a time and wait. Sounds like the taco bell "head for the border gong' It was driving me bonkers trying to figure it out.
