Most of the Status Bar icons that were visible when on the home screen like:

  • Alarm
  • Bluetooth earbuds connected
  • NFC
  • VoWiFi/VoLTE etc.

have been removed in One UI 7 (it was visible on One UI 6.1).

Earlier these icons were visible at a glance, but now we have to pull down the notification/quick settings panel to see the above icons. This adds an unnecessary extra step which is quite cumbersome.

Some scenarios which makes this change bad:

1. If I misplace my Bluetooth earbuds or I forget that I connected it with the phone, since the Bluetooth icon is not visible on the home screen status bar, I wont remember the phone is still connected to the earbuds.

2. Even in case of Alarms, I might forget the alarm has been set since it is not visible on the home screen status bar.

3. If I turn on NFC for making a payment, I might forget to turn it off and the NFC will stay on and I would not be able to remember that I forgot to turn it off since the NFC icon is not visible on the home screen status bar.

What is use of the "Status" Bar if not used to indicate status? Why is there a need to hide these icons and leave the space empty ? It seems like a downgrade from One UI 6.1.

I hope these icons are brought back on One UI 7 just like it was on One UI 6.1.

I have attached some screenshots showing the change:

Thanks.

the reason behind Samsung hide those static icon is to prevent screen burn in

i like to hide those icons, also your battery will be ok even if you keep your bluetooth/NFC on all the time, the one that love to drain your battery is AOD

Samsung did not hide those icons to prevent screen burn in, that accusation is completely false. They are hidden like that to consolidate and look and feel more like ios status bar (samsung said this). If you like those icons there, samsung has left a lot for goodlock to pick up. Install goodlock and install the module quickstar, you can now add or remove icons in the status bar. Goodlock is supported by samsung fyi. ๐Ÿ––๐Ÿป

Even using good lock, you can't see the bluetooth icon when a device is connected. This was such a stupid decision to remove bluetooth icon when devices are connected. How on earth am I supposed to know whether my bluetooth is connected. This extra step on opening the notification bar is really a pain.

Fully agree. And I hate that I can't see all my notification icons in the status bar. And all the more when whatever the heck this "clean" look is for how much real estate that this useless blob of Spotify is taking up. I appreciate wanting to maintain a clean look, but I hate how Samsung has been going the way of apple and removing consumer options for these "feature" that play as bugs for those of us who know how to use technology to help ourselves.

I fully agree. I don't want a cleaner, simpler status bar. I want to see the bluetooth and alarm icons when I have a connected device or alarm on. I also hate the new battery icon. If I wanted my phone to look like an iPhone I would have bought one.
