I have a Toyota Corolla from 2020. I have to connect via USB to be able to use Google Maps. Since the latest One update it can only connect for charging. There is a new option about the type of USB connection but if I select Android Auto it trys to connect then says it's not possible. Can it really be true that Samsung just destroyed my entire in-car environment?

Android Auto app is up-to-date

Any ideas?

You can try getting a Bluetooth adapter like this one: https://a.co/d/efReXJw.  I don't know if it will help your issue, but I was having trouble staying connected to Android Auto via USB cable in my 2017 car because my phone did not like the older cables and my car did not like the newer ones.  This little adapter solved all that for me.  It connects to the AA USB port in your car and emulates a Bluetooth connection.  It's returnable, so if it doesn't work for you, you can always send it back for a refund.  One minute, uncomplicated setup.

I have a 2024 Jeep Compass and I've NEVER had a consistent connection using Android Auto. At first I thought it might be my phone (S10 which no longer receives security updates) but now I have a S21 FE and the connection is even worse !! Sometimes it connects, sometimes it doesn't. I can try for 10 minutes to get it to connect & it won't. 5 minutes later it connects on it's own. Terribly frustrating !!

Ok.  Let me get a proper link.

Try this:

https://www.amazon.com/Android-Auto-Wireless-Compatible-Producted/dp/B0C53QMSX9/ref=pd_rhf_dp_s_ci_m...

I hate the way Amazon has their link sharing - or is it the fault of the members app?

Thanks for your reply. However, if I put this bluetooth adaptor in the USB port I can't connect mu phone with a cable (as the USB port is then already in use) and it needs a cabled connectoon to be able to use Googke Maps. Spotify etc. work via a Bluetooth only connection but not Maps.

Nope.  It takes the place of connecting your phone with a cable.  Your phone will still connect to your car's Bluetooth for calling, but AA functions are taken over via the Bluetooth adapter.  It creates a wi-fi connection between your phone and the adapter, while connecting to Android Auto.  It works perfectly.  You will no longer need to use a cable to connect your car to Android Auto. Like I said, it's returnable, so all you have to do is buy it and try it.  If it doesn't solve your issue, send it back for a refund.

I have a 2016 Honda Accord and my S24 plus is connected to AA using the charging phone only setting. I haven't tried the Transferring files / AA setting.
