No sound when I get a text message

A few days ago, my phone stopped notifying me whenever I'd get a text. Instead the screen simply flashed. If I'm not looking directly at my phone, I no longer know when I'm being texted. I don't know how to fix this

What model do u have? Cause my partner is having the same problem for a while now . He has a A 14 or 15 I'm not sure which.

1. Open phone settings
2. Click on Accessibility
3. Click on Advanced settings
4. Click on Flash notification
5. Turn off the options there. 

The 2nd part is that you will need:

1. Open phone settings
2. Click on App notifications
3. Click on your messaging application
4. Ensure that Sound and vibration is enabled.
5. Then make sure that your phone isn't on mute or vibrate.

Maybe unrelated, but when i turned on text notifications and added a notification sound, the texts & notifications play their sounds at the same time, and my text sound gets canceled i think..

The flash is probably just as mentioned above..
